Pay Isn’t Everything!

Next month Chipotle will be the next large corporation to extend benefits, such as paid time off and tuition reimbursement, to their part-time and hourly employees.

we’ve seen make this transition. In fact, over the last year, we’ve seen several organizations, including Starbucks, Whole Foods, and Costco, extend benefits to a portion of the population whose total rewards package is historically constrained to hourly pay.

Most of these organizations, including Chipotle, cite this change as part of an effort to attract and retain their most client-facing employees. However, this could be a part of a larger trend in which organizations are starting to listen to their employees’ needs and differentiate themselves not through pay, but through benefits.
